I long for a renaissance of modest fashion
Female emancipation was all about turning women into the same 'animals' they claimed men were. This is clear now in retrospect. But it got tiresome and soon enough I think it might be over.
I don't think anyone would argue that the sexualization of the West is now almost complete. It has become so pervasive that society has had to go further and target children, who were otherwise the only ones still untouched. We are almost at the end of the road.
In the beginning, it was enticing to see female skin in "Tutti-Frutti" on TV, "Baywatch" with lifeguards worth getting caught in streams to be saved by (or dying in the process), Samantha Fox on posters in Okej! magazine, and Anna Nicole Smith in lingerie on billboards in Stockholm City. How angry the feminists were about all this. "We" (society, men, patriarchy) reduced women to pieces of meat. Then something happened, the feminists intensified their struggle.
Becoming like the men they hate
Apparently, the feminists' idea was that women should become like the men they despised. Engaging in casual relationships, not taking responsibility for any consequences (such as children), being shallow and lust-driven... yes, resembling the animals (or "walking dildos") Roks chairman Ireen von Wachenfeldt accused us of being on TV som many years ago. “Girl Power” was about "taking control" of your femininity, which in practice meant offering your entire body for free to any eye that wanted (or didn't want) to look. The more you undress, the more powerful you are.
Great job, girls!
Of course, this wasn't true for all women, everywhere or always. But it happened enough for it to be noticed, and being noticeable was the point. Not only did girls start to dress (and apply makeup, etc.) like prostitutes, even for a simple trip to the grocery store, but sex, sexuality, and everything associated with it, including fetishes and perversions, ended up at the top of the agenda in society. Hence the sexualization... to the point of boredom.
A society sexually excited to the point of exhaustion
Yes, I'm writing about boredom, and I mean it. It's a society saturated with bare skin everywhere: sex, breasts, bodies, buttocks, tights, tops, and a whole lot more. Intercourse in every direction except in and out. Various positions everywhere: become a “sex monster”, as the evening paper promises to teach you. Swingers here and group sex there, and why not try a Real Doll with your wife.
Wife? Husband? Nonsense, we are liberated and can swap partners on Tinder instead. If you can't handle the human element, you can listen to the ads on the radio and get addresses to a dozen sex shops where you can even buy masturbation aids with "no hands needed". Everything revolves around sex; everything is about sex. All the time. It's like living in the Kama Sutra on steroids.
I can't do that. I'm checking out and saying goodbye.
Too much makes us bored
Here I see a change coming. Too much of it all makes us tired. I can't bear to see another half-naked "perfect" body; they leave me cold. In the pursuit of the "perfect", women undergo surgery on their genitals because something is slightly different, and men fail to understand that breasts come in different sizes naturally (and after having children, well, various changes to the body are perfectly normal and okay). I don't want to witness this obsession with girl-women. Sure, retain your youthful beauty, but embody womanhood.
And I'm sure I'm not alone in this, although few may express it as openly.
Back to the point. I believe the collective cowardice that has afflicted us is starting to fade, and that opens the door to something I sincerely hope for: a resurgence of modest fashion, to bring excitement back into life.
It has already begun, and fortunately, it seems like my sphere is coming to the forefront. Nationalism embodies an idea of tradition and dignity, which precludes the most indecent outfits from the outset. However, the increasing prevalence of 'boyish' fashion among our women is also concerning.
What I now see emerging among "our" women are dresses, skirts, blouses, hairbands, and the like, reminiscent of an "older" style. These include fabrics that extend over the knees and down to the ankles, concealed shoulders, and décolletage that doesn't reveal more than is strictly necessary to achieve a tasteful effect. What a joy.
Personally, I dislike pants on women (with the exception of necessary workwear and on certain other occasions), so seeing skirts and dresses swirling around fills my soul with happiness. My hope is for the disappearance of pumps, replaced by the sight of bare feet gracing our sacred ground in the summer and "sensible" barefoot shoes that don't damage the feet at other times. Natural, earthy, modest = beautiful!
What can I do?
I don't know if our women want anything special from us men. But tell me and I will listen. The truth is that women are not as "visual" as men, which means that sexualization affects us differently. Men are "receivers" to a greater extent and women are "senders".
What you wear is a matter of taste. To some extent. It is also a statement that shows how you perceive yourself and therefore how others will perceive and treat you. Simple: dress and act like a hobo and people will treat you like one. Dress and act like a prostitute and people will treat you like one. Our mothers and fathers used to teach us this.
I have realized that I may need some good advice on what to wear. Left to my own devices, it is what it is. I have some talents, fashionability is not one of them. Asking for help from someone who knows is a good idea, that's what I want to say.
If I am right, which I think I am, we can look forward to the future. Men and women with self-respect who dress and behave accordingly. That's the kind of tomorrow I want to wake up to. /14
